Leadership
Grand Oak Capital’s leadership team has a diversified skill set and a broad range of experience in corporate and energy-specific roles. Meet the team members below:
Joel Macaluso is the president of Grand Oak Capital Management, LLC. After attending Rice University and graduating with a degree in Mathematics in 2012, Joel joined the electricity industry at Parkhurst Resources in Houston, Texas. At Parkhurst Resources Joel served as a junior trader and transmission analyst where he studied the dispatch model for various ISOs. After leaving Parkhurst in 2014, Joel went on to become an energy trader at Exion Energy in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he traded Texas electricity while working on his PhD in industrial engineering at Texas A&M. Joel is currently on a leave of absence from his PhD where his research was focused on machine learning and power dispatch.
David Clough is the Chief Data Officer of Grand Oak Capital Management, LLC. A 2014 graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in Aerospace Engineering, he entered the energy industry as an environmental commodities analyst at Just Energy in Houston, TX from 2015-2018. At Just Energy he managed a portfolio of voluntary and compliance Renewable Energy Credits and carbon offsets in all deregulated North American power markets. He was brought onboard in April, 2018 to oversee Grand Oak’s growing market data assets.
Kevin Kwan is the Chief Technology Officer of Grand Oak Capital Management, LLC. Kevin received a B.S in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2012, and a B.S in Computer Science from the University of Houston in 2016. Entering the industry as an intern at Exion Energy in 2016, Kevin was responsible for implementing Machine Learning technology solutions for various bidding strategies in ERCOT. At Grand Oak Capital Management, Kevin is responsible for the design and development of the trading software as well as interfacing these technologies to energy markets.
